Fairytale Romance: Easy Hairdo How-to

This week on the Wild Rose & Sparrow Blog, we've created a tutorial to show you how you can create a dreamy, fairytale hairstyle using only a few bobby pins and whatever hair adornment/fascinator you want to add the finishing touch to your look!

This updo is perfect for any formal occasion, from prom styles to even a beautiful and whimsical bridal look! It captures all of the magic of a happily-ever-after!

Take two front sections of hair and smooth them back using a brush. Then twist them around each other two or three times. You should still have a length of untwisted hair to work with.

With the remaining length, begin a fishtail braid (bring strands from both sections to the opposing section)

Bring the entire braided strand up and spin it around itself to form a bun. Pin in place.

With the remaining hair at the bottom, form a regular braid.

Bring this braid up and around the bun. Pin in place.

Add accessories like fascinators or adornments that suit your style and your wedding’s theme as a finishing touch.

Prepare to have all eyes on you!

Both fascinators used are creations from our new line of hair adornments, which are coming out soon on Etsy! To check out our current selection, see our shop section devoted to fascinators and hair adornments here:

Tutorial: how to make dreamy organza straps

Shimmery, translucent, wing-like ribbons at the back of a strapless dress can add an ethereal, sylphlike touch that can make an ordinary evening gown into the showstopper of any event.

Here's how you can make this look yours:

1. Find a length of organza in a colour that complements your dress: things to look for and think about are shine, length, width of the ribbon and whether you prefer the organza to have only one colour or flicker through a range of them as you move (multi-hued organza).

2. Cut out two equal lengths of organza to serve as your straps: you can choose to leave them long, giving a dreamy look that hints at wings, or shorter for a chic, sophisticated touch.

3. Sew the two organza ribbons onto the dress at the front (onto the inner lining of the dress- sewing it on the outside only serves as a visual distraction).

4. Put it on, tie a bow with a whimsical flourish (halter top style) and enjoy!
